Sick Bank

The District maintains a sick leave bank for use by regular certificated unit members, excluding Adult Education teachers and designated hourly positions. The sick leave bank is jointly administered by the President of the Association and the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the District. They operate under mutually agreed upon aministrative regulations.

 

The following rules apply to applications:

 

  • The member must have exhausted all paid leave entitlements due to a serious long-term illness or
  • An individual may not recieve more than 100 days per calendar year.
  • A doctor's note must be presented to Human Resources stating the reason for the absence and the length of time needed.
  • An application for days must be presented to Human Resources along with the doctor's note to be considered for an award of days.

Catastrophic Leave Bank

 

The intent of the Catastrophic Leave Bank (CLB) is to provide support for any active unit member when a member of his or her family suffers from a catastrophic illness or injury.“Catastrophic illness” or “injury” is a life-threatening or critical event which incapacitates a family member and requires the unit member to take time off from work.

 

  • For the purpose of this article, “family member” is defined as spouse, registered domestic partner, child, step child, foster child, parent or step parent.
  • The unit member must have exhausted all of his/her Personal Illness Leave in order to draw from the CLB.
  • The unit member may request one (1) extension beyond the initial request of up to twenty (20) days.
  • The Panel may approve or deny the extension based on the needs of the Unit Member and/or the District.

This bank is also jointly administered by the President of the Association and the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the District. They operate under mutually agreed upon aministrative regulations.

  • Current member of the SRTA bargaining unit.
  • Must have donated at least one sick day to the bank prior during the open enrollment period.
  • The member must have exhausted all paid leave entitlements due to a serious long-term illness or injury.

  • A doctor's note must be presented to Human Resources stating the reason for the absence and the length of time needed.
  • An application for days must be presented to Human Resources along with the doctor's note to be considered for an award of days.
